Big purchases are rarely only about their price. They also change the timing of other commitments, how much buffer you retain and what options stay open in the coming weeks.
Start with the true cost
Include taxes, shipping, required accessories and any ongoing fees. If a purchase would create a recurring bill, that belongs in the plan too.
Compare against what is already committed
Look at upcoming obligations before treating your entire recorded balance as free to spend. Expected income may improve the outlook, but it is not cash until it arrives.
Make a reversible preview
A what-if scenario should let you explore the effect without posting a transaction or changing your actual records. If a tight week already existed before the purchase, the scenario should say so rather than blame the hypothetical expense.
Decide based on tradeoffs
You might buy now, wait until after a known bill, choose a less costly alternative or preserve the funds for another goal. The useful outcome is a clearer choice, not an app making the choice for you.
One question worth asking: What becomes harder if I do this today? If the answer is not clear, your data may need a quick review before you decide.
